JB grew up in Southern California and served 12 years in the United States Marine Corps before being medically retired. While growing up in SoCal, JB was part of several local bands, playing many SoCal venues. While fronting the band X-Syndrome, JB got his first taste regional and international success as the band was given a substantial amount of airplay with such songs as "Fades Away, "Compromise", "August" and "Change".

In early 2017, JB signed with One Body Records & Productions. He released his first single in the spring of 2017-"Love Don't Live Here", which eventually went on to track over two million streams to date, followed up by "Church Pew" and "Tonight" which have both hit the 3 million stream mark. In 2019, he remade Hillsong United's "Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)" and the single hit one million streams worldwide in a record 2 weeks. He currently tours with his band JB Brown & Co. with members, Josh Brooks-Lead Guitar, Paul Williamson-Bass, Daniel Stein-Steel Pedal/Mandi-Banjo, Mike Bradley-Sax/Keys, and Kevin Fort-Drums.
