His dad was a food service ware house manager/roughneck and his mother was a food sales rep and an activity director. Due to his father's work, the family got to see him half the time and his mother worked up to 3 jobs and took care of the family every day. Savallos family lived in Grand Saline, where Savallo went to Grand Saline High School. Savallos mother's family were salt miners. Savallo is the first male on his mother's side of the family to work at the salt mine since his grandfather.
He described his educational career by noting that he was "not a great student". His parents divorced when he was in the third grade and where back and forth for 6 years. Ryan went through a bad time and did things he wasnt proud of during high school and started working on cars for money at a local shop.
After turning 18, Ryan went to the oilfield where he worked on drilling rigs for 13 years. Now he works at Morton Salt. Ryan still lives in Grand Saline, Texas with his wife, Amber and 4 children. Three girls and one boy!
Savallo is often compared to Lynyrd Skynrd and the southern rock and outlaw country genre of music. Savallo himself counts Merle Haggard, The Steel Woods and Cody Jinks as much bigger influences on his sound than Lynyrd Skynrd . Savallo has also stated he tries to base his music career around that of CoJo. A voice that recalls Merle Haggard and guitar licks that bring Marshall Tucker Band back to mind.
